To compare it, I have studied at Harvard, yet I feel this course better prepared me for real life, on the job experience.

My passion has always been interiors. I received a promotion at work, and while I was grateful, it made me realise I didn’t want to climb the ladder within my current field. Instead, I wanted to pursue a career in interior design.

After much research, I decided The Interior Design Academy appeared to offer all that I was looking for in a course. I can definitely say that it didn’t disappoint! I was very lucky to have Lisa Hallett as my tutor, and from Day. 1 until the completion of my studies, I couldn’t recommend this Academy more highly.

The course was very well set out in terms of structure and walking you through the different components of interior design. To compare it, I have studied at Harvard, yet I feel this course better prepared me for real life, on the job experience.

While completing my studies with the Academy, I was still busy in my other career, so I thoroughly enjoyed the option of being able to work at my own pace. I was even more impressed with my tutor’s timely turnaround of providing feedback. She was very thorough and to the point, as well as honest and realistic when offering suggestions. The tutorials were highly engaging and I loved the assignments. The content was always relevant, and I really liked how they encouraged us to not only think about the big elements of design, but also the tiny details that at times can be overlooked.

Since graduating, I have launched my own company in interior design with a niche focus on styling rental properties. My vision is simple, everybody deserves a place to call home. The Sydney property market is expensive, and with many people renting, I want to continue to help break the stigma that you need to own a home before you can call it that.

Since launching my business, my biggest project has been one I wasn’t expecting – styling a retail shop fitout in Melbourne. I’d never undertaken a project of this calibre, however, this course had prepared me and given me the confidence I needed to just jump in and have a go The result was one very happy client.

I want to continue focusing on styling and decorating as this is my biggest interest, and where I feel I can have the most impact in helping others. 12 months ago, I didn’t even dream I would be where I am now, but thanks to the Academy, I am well on my way to making my dream come true. I would highly recommend anyone considering studying interior design to enrol with The Interior Design Academy.
