As a stay at home mother of four young children, living in a remote location, I had considered my aspirations of completing an online course in interior design might be unachievable. However through a strong recommendations of a close friend who had completed the course, I decided to pursue the idea and enrol with The Interior Design Academy. What a thrill it is now to have completed The Professional Interior Design Course myself.
Studying from home was not without its challenges, but I found this course to be thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end. Subjects and content were both up to date and comprehensive, in an easy to follow format. My tutor was incredibly supportive throughout the entirety of the course, giving me unequalled one-on-one tuition. Feedback on all assignments was highly detailed, personal and constructive. To have someone who is currently active within the industry giving honest advice was hugely beneficial and I appreciated this consistent contact greatly.
Not only did this course give me a solid understanding of the design principals and technical skills required to complete a job, it also provided extensive industry knowledge and supplied an enormous database of relevant contacts for future use.
From managing business aspects and book keeping, to dealing with onsite tradies, to conducting myself professionally and diplomatically with difficult clients – this course really did cover everything that is required to set up your own business. I was even able to conduct work for two clients while still completing my studies and felt, even at that stage, the confidence to take on all required duties.
I thank the Interior Design Academy and their staff for giving me an amazing start within the interior design industry and would highly recommend their course to anyone who is interested in turning their passion for interior design into a career.
