I’ve always had a passion for designing ever since I was little and I guess you could say it runs in the family as I recently discovered that my great grandfather used to own a fabric business in Sydney many years ago.
As a teenager I used to love rearranging my bedroom and sketching different designs for fashion. I remember my Dad saying (even back then) that I should be an interior designer, but I never paid much attention to it at the time. I was a child engaging in my passion and having fun, a career was not on my mind at that stage.
As time moved on the passion remained and I decided to do some research, that is when I found The Professional Interior Design Course with the Interior Design Academy.
When I enrolled I was working full time as an electrical sales assistant and was able to manage study and work without feeling overwhelmed. I put my head down to complete my studies and was so happy when I finished the course.
I am now second in command at one of Australia’s largest importers of quality furniture, having been in the business for over 50 years. The course has assisted me to not only get the job but to also be more confident when giving advice to clients, while allowing me to embrace that passion that has always been within.
As the new year begins, so does my career as an interior designer, with my first paying client scheduled in January. I cannot wait to see where this new chapter in life will take me, doing something that I have always loved.
I would like to thank everyone at the Interior Design Academy for all of the support and help along my wonderful journey of becoming an interior designer that, until now, I had only ever dreamed of.
